General: - Study of the most important harmonic, melodic and rhythmic elements of musical (Jazz-)syntax - Study/research of the interaction of these elements into one organic unit.

Analysis:

The classic style features: - General basic syntax of the musical phrase: - The motif, motif development, connecting motif material, the musical phrase (phrase/ subphrase)+ exercises/ analyses - Types of phrases (general) - Lengthening phrases :techniques - Connecting phrases: techniques - Small forms



Harmony:

The classical styles: The tonal functional system (continuation):

Modulations - Symmetrical chords (o7, augmented triad) - Irregular resolutions of dominant chords - Blues and blues influences - chord-scale relationships-Linear aspects of harmony-partwriting (in 4/5 part)
