Course Content

During the design studio 'Integrated Project Public Space' you will develop a Structure Plan and Master Plan for the study area. In the thematic analysis you investigate the influences of the environment on the project area.
In the last phase the focus is on designing the project area and the design details. In this integrated project you work simultaneously on a planting design and a technical design for a sub-area of the project.

Course Objectives

Research assignment, the student:
- is able to make a critical analysis of reference projects

Thematic analysis, the student:
- is able to read the spatial functional existing situation (genius loci)
- is able to define the importance and content for various target groups
- is able to analyse an assignment on different scales (study area - project area)
- is able to make an analysis and synthesis methodologically

Vision & concepts, the student:
- is able to make a structure plan
- is able to formulate a vision on the assignment
- is able to make (a) concept(s)
- is able to make an unambiguous story (relation between, vision, targets and concepts)
- is able to make a masterplan

Design, the student:
- is able to integrate the results from the concept faze in the design (design principles)
- is able to see the design in his broader context
- is able to make a spatial design
- is able to make a functional design
- is able to make an aesthetic design
- is able to follow up the design process chronologically in a design book

Presentation & communication, the student:
- is able to give a clear oral presentation for a group,
- is able to make visual, attractive, design clarifications (maps, concepts, plans, details and 3D-visualisations)
